The special seals on the jaw interface and the SCHUNK ROTA NCR-A 6-jaw compression-compensated mandrel piston prevent the grease from escaping and the progressive loss of clamping force. Even in the presence of low clamping forces, precise operation of the mandrel is ensured, while the joints simultaneously prevent any infiltration of chips and dirt into the mandrel body. As a result, process security is improved, and maintenance intervals are extended. This means that the automatic mandrel does not need to be lubricated or cleaned as often.

Maximum Circularity of Parts Sensitive to Deformation

The SCHUNK ROTA NCR-A consists of a central mandrel piston carrying the inner pendulum devices aligned at 120 °. Each pendulum arm is connected to two basic jaws. This makes it possible to achieve room centering between six equalized points of contact per pair. As the clamping forces are directed to the mandrel, optimal centering without redundant dimensioning of the workpiece is achieved. The chuck adjusts perfectly to the workpiece thanks to its oscillating jaws.

In the case of clamping by conventional jaws, this configuration makes it possible to obtain maximum circularity of the parts. Compared to clamping with 3-jaw chucks, the deformation of circular parts is reduced by a factor of 10. For finishing machining or pre-turned surface clamping, users can tighten the pendulum devices of the ROTA NCR mandrel -A in central position, which means that all six jaws can move concentrically.

The clamping force between the first and second clamping processes can be adapted by reducing the pressure at the clamping cylinder. The rigidity of the chuck body and the length of the jaw guides ensure high reproduction fidelity and precise machining results.

Low height and wide choice of standard jaws

Thanks to the flat chuck concept, you have plenty of space in your machine for the part and the machining process. Instead of using special solutions or costly system jaws, the jaw interface of ROTA NCR-A can be used with the standard jaws of the world's largest SCHUNK clamping jaw program. This avoids costly and time-consuming special versions, increases flexibility and reduces assembly effort.

The SCHUNK ROTA NCR-A is available in diam. 190 to 1000 mm with maximum clamping forces from 36 kN to 300 kN and jaw strokes from 6 mm to 25 mm. Automatic lathe chucks sizes 190-225 are equipped with tenons and grooves; from size 250, they are equipped with a flexible straight tooth (1.5 mm x 60 ° or 1/16 "x 90 °). From size 630, the automatic chuck is prepared for use on vertical lathes. -According to the size of the mandrel, the pendulum compensation is between ± 1 mm and ± 6 mm, and the maximum speed between 600 rpm and 4000 rpm.
